The ever-outspoken Half Dutch, British born M.C and songwriter CompreHend is back, with his latest release ‘Coronialism’ out April 30th.
The dual nationality, award-winning solo artist is proud to be a DIY rapper based in Leicester. The cheeky rap artist has been making music since 2015, garnering a fan base both Internationally and locally, receiving support from media outlets such as BBC Introducing, BBC Radio Leicester, Reprezent Radio and more. In 2020 the ‘Rat Race’ Drum & Bass remix collaboration between
CompreHend and Limited Budget was hand-picked for Spotify’s editorial playlist ‘Stepping Out’ which at present has over 268,000 Followers.
Solidifying his new sound in 2021, “Coronialism” shows the Midlands based artist returning with his hard-hitting punchlines and technical flows, whilst maintaining his signature Anarchistic themes throughout. Produced by New York’s ‘Premise on the Beat’ the trappy composition perfectly compliments CompreHend’s cadence allowing the politically charged message and complex lyricism to take the spotlight.
‘I’m Gonna Win’ his latest single (January 2021) served as a rebirth of sorts for CompreHend. The solo rapper took a year and a half off in mid-2019 to develop his now signature sound.
Updating his arsenal with modern flows
, quotable punchlines, and catchy hooks, CompreHend began creating modern Hip-Hop records that fit nicely in the libraries of fans of Mr Traumatik or Hopsin.
Now he is gearing up to release his next returning single ‘Coronialism’.
On ‘Coronialism’, CompreHend vents his lockdown angst, questioning the larger narrative of the global pandemic.
“Coronialism is about approaching huge narrative shifting events with an open mind. It’s about looking at who benefits and who loses in situations like the globa
l pandemic, questioning authority and paying attention to how the media frame things in a deliberate way.”
The captivating single ‘Coronialism’ by CompreHend is out April 30th.
